Well it's been a while since I posted anything. I thought I better tell you all what's going on in the world of Steve!
In the past few months, I've been on-and-off deciding if I would like to stay at University and continue my studies in
Internet Computing. I decided not to continue at one point; got my mom and dad down to help pack my entire belongings and take them home. Then, a week later at home I decided I'm going back down and took only a few survival items. A month later and a good long hard think, I finally decided that I would not continue my studies. When that happened, I started applying for web developer jobs in and around Derby as well as back at home. I put my CV online for people to head hunt myself.
About another week later, I got an e-mail from a company called
Icelolly asking if I would like to apply for their web developer job that was being offered mid may. I took up on the offer. I e-mailed him back, we arranged a date and time and my interview was set. I quickly did a mock-up design of Icelolly's after search page and put it i my portfolio to show them on the interview. The day came, I grabbed my portfolio and record of achievement and got myself down to their head quarters in Wyke.
I got myself into the building and was interviewed straight away. After I sold myself and my skills they said I would hear back from them on Monday
(at the time it was a Friday). I got back home where my mom came home from work and said
"Did you get there at 11:30am?" -- I was baffled and said
"it was for... oh shit!". Yup, I arrived 20 minutes late to my interview! I quickly e-mailed Icelolly to apologise and they promptly replied that they weren't keeping track of the time. Lucky escape, eh?
I had the long wait but didn't think about it much as I was helping my parents clean up their house to sell. Finally Monday came. I had a few early things to do. Dentist, chores around the house, etc. No phone call. So, I get to my computer, open up my e-mail client and in pops a new email from Icelolly. They offered me the position and I accepted!
Now I start on the 29th May and I'm down in Derby just chilling before my big first day! The only problem right now is that I'm full of cold, have a fever and need constant paracetamol. Could life get any better?
